Diva
Greetings is the realization of a life-long dream. To gather a group of
brilliantly gifted artisans and create something essentially new, groundbreaking.
I am a native of the Dominican Republic and have lived in America for
the last decade. As an artist/designer, my multicultural life experiences
has given me a truly unique perspective on issues that ultimately led
to the creation of Diva Greetings...
Everytime I have stepped into a card store I'd walk up and down the aisles
searching for a Spanish greeting card. I mean, here I am living in New
York City, the worlds leader of a melting pot of culture, and I can't
find a greeting card in my native language, Spanish. I understand that
as a community we need to assimilate; but please, we reserve the right
to retain some of our cultural heritage, our language, (even if only in
the privacy of our own homes).
Just kidding...sorta.
Diva Greetings is a Spanish language greeting card company. Our goal is
to execute fresh, contemporary images and communicate them in a striking
original manner with a taste for modernism.
Now consumers like myself can stop searching for a Spanish language greeting
card that does not insult. We needn't be barraged with images of peasants
carrying baskets of fruit or mustached men playing flamenco guitars. After
all, the hispanic community with it's centuries of vibrant history, swathed
in technicolor, deserves better.
Diva Greetings does not discriminate, we just offer more choices. All
of our cards, while featuring the Spanish language, also include an English
translation.
We understand that the hispanic population continues to grow in the U.S.
at a break-neck pace and we plan on taking complete advantage, and we
hope that you as the retailer will do the same.
If you are a card store owner, and you don't carry Spanish language greeting
cards you can no longer claim that you are catering to the mainstream
audience, because the spanish speaking population makes up a significant
part of that stream.
Diva Greetings, at its best, creates dynamic visuals combined with concise
verbal imagery. Simple messages that manage to crack the mold, cross cultural
boundaries and appeal to the widest number of potential consumers. Our
ideal audience is (and could be): Spanish, American, Chinese, Lithuanian....Whatever.

MIGUELINA
RIVERA GRULLÓN
Miguelina
Rivera is a 27-year-old Dominican-born artist. Miguelina moved to New
York City five years ago, after having been awarded a full scholarship
from "Cooper Union for Science and Advancement". Miguelina attended
the prestigious "Cooper Union" after first receiving her undergraduate
degree from Parsons School of Design where she attended, with a full scholarship,
in Altos de Chavón, Dominican Republic.
Miguelina is the most passionate and spiritual artist that I have come
to know. As my sister, I had the unwitting opportunity to grow up, just
steps away from one of the most gifted artists of our generation. Some
might say I'm biased, maybe I am, but I'm definitely not wrong.
In Miguelina's very short career she has already won numerous prestigious
honors and is currently the 2001 recipient of the "National Bienal
de Artes Plįsticas". Because of this honor, the best of this young
artists work will be on view for the month of July 2001 at the ³Galería
de Arte Moderno².
